CWMSC - 2023 Renewal subscriptions due - email 31st December, 2022

 

View this email in your browser Caversham Working Men's Social Club Good Day Gentlemen and a very Happy New Year, Please note that the annual membership renewal subscription is due from the 1st January, 2023. Membership Cards are available for pick up from the bar on the Monday 2nd January, 2023. Please renew by handing over your till card so that we can link payment to your membership. Fees are the same as last year - £25.00         under 65 £12.50         65+ You will still be able to renew in February, but will be charged an additional late fee of £5. Members who have not renewed by the end of February will have their membership cancelled and will have to go through an application to re-join. The membership is full at this time, but this could change by the end of February. We now have a waiting list of 70 people which will mean that it will become harder to re-join. If you are receiving this email because you are on the waiting list then you will be contacted in March for an invite to join, if there is space available. The club has worked hard to keep renewal prices and beer prices the same for the foreseeable future, even though we are seeing high energy prices and have recently absorbed a brewery increase. We would like to thank you all for renewing in a timely manor as this really does help the club keep prices down. It is great value. Please do visit the club to pay your renewal subscription and pick up your new membership card by the end of the month. Cheques are not accepted. If you now anyone who will not be able to attend the club due to unforeseen circumstance then please do let me know. Some members will not see this renewal request. Please do spread the word to the other members to help remind them. Note: Renewals are not available after 8pm on Fridays. Just a couple of Updates Old Boy's For the regular Friday Morning Old boy's - the club will be open as usual at 10.30am New Year's Eve Saturday is New Year's  Eve - that means we will be celebrating the new year with regular DJ Jim Day So as there is NO MIX-UP - Last orders will be at 12.30am - Bar will close at 12.45am - Music WILL STOP at 1am So come on in and celebrate the new year with us - Also there is a finger buffet available on the night - Please remember there are no children allowed at this event Quiz Night On Tuesday 3rd January its Quiz Night - £1 per player - maximum 6 players per team - starts at 8pm Dry January If you are considering to partake in Dry January - Then consider this - Alcohol free drinking - yes, we have a good range of 0% drinks that may be to your taste - they include                 Stella - Corona - Becks - Peroni - Heineken - San Miguel - Kopparberg - Guinness - Brew Dog & Ghost Ship(0.5%)  Alan Clinch Alan's sister Mary has given us an update - The funeral will be at Reading Crematorium on Tuesday 10th January at 1.45pm - There was no mention of a wake - I have asked Mary for conformation of a wake if they have one - I will update you when possible That's all for now! Unfortunately, this has been designated as a closed day by the committee to allow staff to grab some much needed holiday break - We will also be closedon the 27th We will open at 12 o'clock as usual on the 28th December Xmas Eve -24th December - Ashley Stone will be performing in the lounge bar New years eve celebrations will begin at 8pm on 31st December - we will close at 1am on 1st January The club will be open on 2nd January between 12 - 8pm January 3rd sees the first of the years Quiz Night - with Guy Cleall on the mike That's all for now!! Usual Opening Times - Subject to change for events and Bank Holidays

Regular opening times are as follows:

Monday            12:00 noon – 11:00pm

Tuesday            12:00 noon – 11:00pm

Wednesday       12:00 noon – 11:00pm

Thursday          12:00 noon – 11:00pm

Friday               10:30am – 11:30pm

Saturday           12:00 noon – 11:30pm

Sunday              12:00 noon – 10.30pm

The bell for last orders is 30 minutes before closing.

You will not be able to access the club after the bell has sounded via your card. You can buzz but may not be allowed in.

Please note that the club will be opening on bank holiday in 2022. Come back for further information.

So come on in and bag yourself a nice joint of meat "My mate lost his Christmas spirit - but don't worry, I've nursed him back to Elf" England take on France in tomorrow's world cup quarter final match - kick off at 7pm There is a private function tomorrow evening so the match will ONLY be shown on the 2 tv screens in the lounge bar "What's red & white & falls down chimney's? - Santa Klutz!" On Sunday we have a busy day with the children's Xmas party - starts at 2pm Last year, I asked Santa how much he paid for his sleigh - He said "Nothing, it was on the house" That's all for now!
